“The hardest thing in the world to understand is the income tax.” –Albert Einstein, physicist

This quote by Albert Einstein is the primary reason I decided to start a blog.  I hope the posts in this blog will help regular people learn more about the American income tax system.  Whether you prepare your own return, or hire a professional, you need to Photo 7understand basic income tax laws to make sure you are in compliance.

I’m a 50-year-old mother of two; empty-nester these days.  I graduated with a BBA in accounting from Texas A & M University in 1984 and graduated from Baylor University in 1993 with a Master’s degree in taxation.   After many years spent working in the tax department of a local CPA firm, I made a career change and became a trust officer.  This change has afforded me the opportunity to be an adjunct accounting instructor for Tarleton State University.  I also help a few folks with their tax compliance, whether it’s filing their annual 1040, filing a state return, or responding to letters from the IRS, I’m ready to lend a hand.

As I continue to post more entries, I invite you to continue to read and feel free to ask questions.  Questions from my tax clients, friends and students result in some of the best material to post to this blog.
